Distillery Art Market and other news
August 17, 2011
I hadn't heard back from the Distillery about my application for their Art Market for weeks, so I had this sinking feeling that maybe I just wasn't going to be accepted to partake in their weekend craft market. Then, two days ago as I was on my way downtown to the Passion For Fashion lecture class, the phone rang just as I was leaving the house, and running around to get myself organized, so it went straight to voice mail. Turns out, that was a lady from Artscape calling me about my application and that I had been accepted to their market, and they were wondering if I was still interested/available for this coming weekend. Talk about broken telephone, and cut lines. This was only after...three weeks of not hearing anything back from them?
Anyhow, I was glad to hear it, so I called the lady back the next day (yesterday), and told her that I was definitely still interested in coming down for the three days (fri, sat, sun), yada yada..
The only frustrating part, is that I will be doing this alone for three days :\ and here I was hoping that I could some how just sneak in this lady friend (we won't put names just cause :) ) so that she could make a little money too and keep each other company (and well, have a fun day together). Unfortunately, she has to email in some pictures to them, and I don't know how long they will take to give her an answer on whether or not they will accept her product too (who knows, maybe they'll take another week to sort that out too :P yeesh I hope not.)
So fingers crosses for this weekend, I will be downtown toronto at The Distillery District, some of Toronto's swankiest market spots and places to hit up the fancy restaurants.
Other than that, I have a few thoughts on the P.F.F classes:
a) I found them to be a bit repetitious of information that I already knew from my own experiences
b) They seemed to be a bit too serious and not very reassuring to the young crown they were preaching to
I understand where the speaker is coming from, and what kind of picture he is trying to draw for those newbies, but at the same time it felt discouraging on some of the things that were talked about.
Anyway, I'll get into further details over that another time.. just wanted to update on what's happening this weekend :)
